If you ever need a guaranteed way to bond with someone, just complain about dealing with your mother.

If you ever need a guaranteed way to bond with someone, just complain about dealing with your mother.

Gianni Di Gregorio directs and stars in this sweet Italian import as a doting son who lives with his ancient mother in an equally ancient apartment. They've fallen behind rent, but there's a loophole - if they host their landlord's elderly mother over a summer weekend, they can keep their place.

The landlord shows up with not only Mom but also an aunt and soon another 90-year-old woman is added to the mix. And so poor Gianni must entertain and cook for and mediate arguments between four very opinionated ladies.

It's a charming and delightful treat that celebrates familial bonds while poking fun at the quirks of the elderly with the utmost respect.
