Fair maidens and daring knights recreate life in a 16th-century English village during the Ohio Renaissance Festival, which runs weekends through Oct. 17. On a 30-acre tract about 65 miles southwest of Columbus, more than 150 performers joust, juggle, strum acoustic instruments, ride horses, talk with accents and wash things by hand. The festival offers nearly 100 shows daily and a medieval mall with 135 vendors. That's plenty to do whether or not you're completely submerged in Shakespearean style. Adult admission costs $17 - which, as performers insist, is "noble fun at pauper's prices!"
