To spice up the annual Columbus Italian Festival, running Oct. 8-10, the group is looking to nab a Guinness World Record with some Old World style.

"We've got a crew for everything," club member Rick Willimott said. "There have been multiple test runs. We've got structural engineers involved and people with construction backgrounds. They look like they know what they're doing."

The group will start to cook the beef-and-pork behemoth a few days before the festival, in hopes of achieving the target weight Friday, Oct. 8. Proceeds from the attempt will benefit the club's scholarship program and several local charities.
