This fall the Broadway shows coming to Columbus are all about color. First there was green - when we learned the Wicked Witch of the West's backstory in "Wicked." Next up is pink: Elle Woods' favorite color.

"Legally Blonde: The Musical" is a high-energy stage adaptation of the popular Reese Witherspoon movie where Elle, a stereotypical blond sorority girl, decides to follow her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law. The Harvard admissions panel admits her after she explains to them that she is motivated by love.

At the school, Elle earns a prestigious internship and teaches salon customers how to attract men by doing the "Bend and Snap."

She overcomes adversity - it's a tough life being a gorgeous blonde - to become a top-notch, pink-clad lawyer.

"It's the same story [as the movie], but when you put it into a musical, it has to be quicker and fast-paced," said Columbus native Maggie Taylor, who plays Margot, a bubbly blond member of the "Greek chorus" of sorority girls. "It gives it a whole new life on stage."

The cast also includes a couple of canines. Just like in the movie, Elle is accompanied by her adoring Chihuahua, Bruiser.

Taylor enjoys performing a scene that includes a conversation between herself and the dog.

"For an actor, it's really special because they keep it real on stage," she explained of her four-legged collaborator. "Yes, they know what they're supposed to do, but you never know what could happen - they can get distracted."

Taylor thinks the dogs are one of the things that make "Legally Blonde" stand out as a musical.

"It's exciting: The dogs. The energy. The pink," she said.
