Celebrate the start of gourd season at Glass Axis this weekend, where hundreds of colorful glass pumpkins will be on view and for sale.

The third-annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser is a free, three-day event at the nonprofit Glass Axis studio, which provides glassblowing classes and workspace for artists and hobbyists.

During a preview party on Thursday night, local country bands Moon High and Nathan Snell's Country Band will perform to raise money for Glass Axis educational scholarships. Tickets for the party are $7.

The weekend activities include free glassblowing demonstrations and a community quilting project. The Pumpkin Patch raises more than $30,000 annually, with a portion of that going back to the local artists who create the pumpkins.
