Nick Reed's idea of a good time has always been getting together as many different people as possible and making a splash. This weekend, he'll bring that vision to life literally with a massive all-night rave at an indoor water park.

Nick Reed's idea of a good time has always been getting together as many different people as possible and making a splash. This weekend, he'll bring that vision to life literally with a massive all-night rave at an indoor water park.

In his college days at Ohio State, Reed used to throw combination music and art parties at the now-defunct BLD.

"The whole event was the art," Reed said.

After graduating in 2005, he and former promotions partner James Bice brought rising hip-hop and electronica stars like Wale, Kid Sister and Nick Catchdubs to Columbus under the banner My Best Friend's Party. Reed's events at local night spots like Bristol Bar and Bento Go Go contributed to the rise of this city's burgeoning party culture.

The Headless Horseman's (G)rave is My Best Friend's Party's most ambitious event yet. Reed and a swarm of collaborators are taking over Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort for Halloween weekend, throwing a raging audiovisual extravaganza until dawn then moving the party to the water park, where a day-long slate of DJs will soundtrack party-goers' aquatic exploits.

Reed recruited an all-star cast of local talent including roeVy, DJ Moxy, Digiraatii and many more. Fog machines, a 4 a.m. breakfast buffet, discounted hotel rooms with a bottle of liquor included - how is family-friendly Fort Rapids allowing something this crazy? Actually, the resort approached Reed and let his imagination run wild.

"We thought it would be a good opportunity to bring more youthful people into the park," said Molly Meyer, Fort Rapids' activities manager.

Reed told Fort Rapids he would need to put together an extra special event to draw crowds away from their usual haunts, and that's exactly what he concocted.

As Reed put it: "It's a hotel party, a pool party, a costume party, an all-night party, your best friend's party."
