Kids these days have no idea what indie rock is supposed to sound like. Thankfully there are bands like Bottomless Pit keeping the melancholy, mid-tempo guitar rock of the '90s alive and well.

Unfortunately, Bottomless Pit exists because of death, not life. Formed after Silkworm drummer Michael Dahlquist died in a car accident, the Chicago group features Silkworm's Tim Midgett and Andy Cohen plus Chris Manfrin of Seam and Brian Orchard of .22.

They'll play Sunday at The Treehouse alongside The Kyle Sowashes and Feature Films, the new band from Heavy Mole's Sam Craighead.
