Remember that game Telephone, where you have to whisper a message from one person to the next and it comes out all jumbled on the other side? (Very postmodern!) Sweatin's latest import makes that trick sing.

Brooklyn duo Sammy Bananas and Maggie Horn, aka Telephoned, reinterprets modern pop favorites in a unique way - part cover, part remix, part mashup. Consider this sequence from their "Off the Hook" mixtape: An emotional reimagining of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Runaway" breathes and builds and suddenly gets spliced with a new version of T.I.'s "Dead and Gone," only to congeal into a synth-heavy club callback to Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody."

You've got to hear it to believe it, and you can do just that Thursday at Axis. Dirty Current, Cornelius Jackson and a Sammy Bananas solo set are also on the docket.
