When I'm looking for the perfect comfort food, there's only one dish that comes to mind - the Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($17) at Park Creek Kitchen. It's the undisputed heavyweight champion of chicken.

You can trust my reporting. Fried chicken has always been my favorite food, and I consider myself a fried-chicken connoisseur. I'm even a former denizen of the Chicken District (near the corner of Fifth and Cleveland avenues), home to three fried-chicken joints within a one-block radius.

Park Creek Kitchen's dish features wonderfully tender and juicy chicken breasts surrounded by extra-crispy breading. And oh man, the breading. The way the crunchy goodness covers every inch of the breast without a soggy spot is truly a work of art. Every bite yields the ideal ratio of succulent chicken to crispy, flavorful breading.

Is your mouth watering? Well, hold back the drool because we're not done yet. Park Creek tops their fried chicken with a peppercorn honey, creating a perfect combination of savory and sweet with just a touch of peppercorn spice.

It's served with sauteed green beans and homemade mac and cheese, and all that makes for a stupendous Southern-style meal.
