The Brothers Drake meadery announced that it will depart its headquarters in Worthington for a building at 26 E. Fifth Ave. that abuts Middle West Spirits, a micro-distillery that opened in July.

"It's really hard to find where we are now - it's difficult on the customer, and I hate it," said Woody Drake, who runs the meadery with his brother Eric. "We've also outgrown the size of this facility. As it turns out, people like mead."

The meadery, which brews several elixirs from a honey base, has doubled production in the past six months and plans to do so again in the bigger space, Drake added.

He expects to open in mid-February. The new digs will offer sales by the bottle, case and glass, as well as regular tours and tastings.
