The first time I dined at Black Creek Bistro, I saw owner Kent Peters stroll in swinging a basket overflowing with fresh greens harvested from his own farm. Since then, I've had tons of good meals and fun times at this Olde Towne East bistro, which really walks the go-green and farm-to-table walk.

The goods: The just-picked gifts from the farm - many served within hours of being harvested - run aplenty here, like heirloom tomatoes, peppers, squashes and herbs from the owner's Black Creek Heritage Farm (Canal Winchester); salad greens and spinach from Sunny Meadows (Columbus); more veggies from Shepherd's Corner (a Blacklick do-gooder teaching farm run by nuns); beef raised on Ohio prison grounds; poultry from Gerber's (Kidron, Ohio), plus an array of great Ohio cheeses.

Eat this: A lovely local spinach salad with bacon and caramelized onion blue cheese dressing; lean yet flavor-slammin' Ohio pasture-raised ribeye with sauteed mushrooms and demi glace; and white chocolate cheesecake with cherries straight from Black Creek's own farm.
