On May 31, Short North pioneer Rebecca Ibel will close the eponymous gallery she owned in the neighborhood for 18 years.

The respected art dealer and exhibitor has been chosen to become director and curator for the Pizzuti Collection, a new exhibition space that will feature contemporary art owned by real-estate developer Ron Pizzuti.

"I just feel like I'm ready for a change," Ibel said. "This is an incredible opportunity that doesn't come along many times. It was now or never."

Ibel's gallery space in Miranova closed earlier this year.

The Pizzuti Collection will be located at 632 Park St., in a mixed-use development project slated to include a boutique hotel and office space in the heart of the Short North.

"Over the past 30 years, we have built a collection of international contemporary art, and we feel strongly that it should be shared with the public," said Pizzuti, chairman and CEO of The Pizzuti Companies, which is behind the development.
