The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts will assume management of Opera Columbus through an agreement announced late last week.

"Opera is a vital part of our cultural fabric, and it is important to provide a full range of cultural offerings to our community," said Michael Petrecca, CAPA's board chairman, in a release.

The new management deal provides financial, advertising, ticketing and operational support and takes effect May 20, roughly one month before the departure of two Opera Columbus leaders.

Executive director Press Southworth will retire and artistic director William Boggs will leave in June, when the current season concludes.
