The Devil Makes Three's old-timey acoustic tunes don't sound all that punk to my ears, so I can only assume they picked up that reputation by being irreverent with ragtime, rockabilly and the other ancient genres they faithfully pillage. Not many traditional Americana acts have lyrics like "Our drummer couldn't figure out whether he was straight or he was gay."
