Local single women will attempt to find Mr. Right on a new reality show set to launch in September on Guardian Television Network, which is looking to develop more programming for a female demographic.

Twelve episodes of "Jane in the City" are being filmed and produced this summer in Columbus. Each will follow a single woman as she receives advice, coaching and potential matches from area experts.

"We're going to use the singles scene here in Columbus to be a backdrop for the show," said Jackie Dorman, general manager of GTN. "Regular dating shows kind of just show people hooking up with people they want. This show will show them what they really need."

The program will air on GTN - channel 23 for most local viewers - and possibly expand into other markets.

"We'll be going after national syndication for that," Dorman explained. "That's something we're well-versed in doing."

She likened the network's upcoming show to a hybrid of "The Bachelor" and "Dr. Phil."

One local expert on tap is matchmaker Nicci Sprouse, who said "Jane in the City" will encourage women to analyze past relationships in order to understand what they need moving forward.

"I meet with them, understand their dating history and help them discover the type of person they are looking for," said Sprouse, who runs the Ask Nicci matchmaking service. "I just help them self-discover what might be a good fit for them - and hopefully see some sparks fly."
