Local musicians will pay tribute to Columbus' legendary jazz sax player and bandleader Gene Walker this weekend at Woodlands Tavern. Tom Carroll, Sean Carney, Linda Dachtyl, Wilbert Longmire and other top-notch players will hold an old-school jam session in the vein of the Jazz & Eggs brunches that used to be held in Olde Towne East. Food will be offered by Eggfast.

Walker, who has been ill recently, was previously a member of the jazz faculty at Ohio State. His career spans more than five decades, and along the way he has recorded with greats such as Johnny "Hammond" Smith and toured with the Beatles, King Curtis, Jackie Wilson and The Drifters.
