We have the band to thank for giving us Janis. They took a back seat and let her blossom from shy songstress to jam legend.

Their album with her, "Cheap Thrills," included the popular covers of "Summertime" and "Piece of My Heart" and starred the underappreciated, ripping acid style of guitarists Sam Andrew and James Gurley (who died of a heart attack in 2009).
