The Hills Market and its veranda are constantly buzzing with food events, but the Foodie Fair and Spelling Bee kicks it up the proverbial notch.

The Hills Market and its veranda are constantly buzzing with food events, but the Foodie Fair and Spelling Bee kicks it up the proverbial notch.

Start with the food, of course: Fourteen local street food vendors are scheduled to be at the store to satisfy the appetites of anyone who comes along for the day's activities. Kids can compete in a Top Chef-style competition. Enjoy tunes from The Randys, The Shazzbots, and Jack Quicksall and Bree Frick. Our friends at Crave magazine will host a blind wine tasting, and yours truly will emcee a live auction. An all-ages food-centric spelling bee is being hosted by Wild Goose Collective.

Best of all, the day's proceeds benefit Local Matters, which teaches kids about good food and increases access to wholesome foods. Your $5 entrance fee will go a long way.
