Preview: Iceage at Carabar

From the 08/03/2011 edition

Few punk bands have emerged to such unanimous hosannas as Iceage, the Copenhagen teens who'll play Carabar this Tuesday. Pitchfork and their underling blog corps adores debut "New Brigade," as does the grimy garage-punk and experimental underground that yielded Tuesday's local support, The Unholy Two and Scavenger.

And indeed, Iceage's sound is somewhat miraculous - as black as the bleakest Scandinavian death metal yet sleek and agile, with enough artful melody to attract Wire comparisons (or, for a newer touchpoint, The Futureheads).

Also appearing Tuesday: Cincinnati confrontational grunge gurus White Walls and New York post-punks The Men.
