While the word "legacy" means something from the past, the folks at Shadowbox Live are using it as their first step toward a new future.

As the first show in their new Brewery District space, "Legacy" will bring together segments of their long and storied past into a brand new show.

"The idea of 'Legacy' is to celebrate, in two hours, the history of Shadowbox Live," said head writer Jimmy Mak. "This is a show that's 20 years in the making."

The show will feature a number of sketches that have been audience favorites, including South Side couple Puck and Misty Duck, Jason's Scary Stories and the return of the original white trash girlfriends Vera and Laverne.

Julie Klein, who plays Laverne, said she and Stacie Boord have been playing these characters for almost 15 years, but haven't gotten to play them together since Boord left to run the second Shadowbox location in Newport, Kentucky, which recently closed.

"In 'Legacy,' Stacie and I return as our original characters in a sketch that takes the very best bits from every Vera and Laverne sketch that has been produced over the years and puts them all in one great script," Klein said.

Shadowbox Executive Producer and CEO Stev Guyer said the music will also be a collection of crowd favorites.

"The songs will reflect our history as much as the sketches will," he said. "They feature singers and musicians from both our former operations, and the selections themselves span 20 years."
