While "Death Valley" made me less skeptical about MTV programming, "I Just Want My Pants Back" - based on the book by David Rosen - brought me back to reality.

It's not an awful show, but it's in dire need of an originality makeover. "Pants" follows 20-something Brooklynite Jason (Peter Vack) as he hangs with friends and tries to break his current "dry spell" with the ladies while being ambivalent about his future.

The sneak peak, which will air after Sunday's Video Music Awards, is fairly rote, but could have potential to improve when it officially debuts in early 2012.
