This Columbus Film Council event showcases short films from both local and internationally based artists.

One of those experimental shorts is “Light.” It was shot with 8mm film in Turkey by director Ufuk Onen and is about a desolate lamp post in front of an abandoned suburban home that finds solace in the sad man who takes care of it.

Admission is free, but visitors have the option to purchase a $10 ticket to the council’s Columbus International Film + Video Festival awards ceremony on Nov. 19. The ticket will also let you vote for your favorite short of the night. The winner will be announced at the November ceremony.

Try some of the Brothers Drake mead while you watch, and stick around after the films for the performance of a yet-to-be-announced musician.
