Preview: Coliseum at Carabar

Most folks classify Coliseum as a punk band, but they sure play like a metal band. Previous tourmates like Baroness, Torche and High on Fire seem to be rubbing off. The Louisville trio’s new “Parasites” EP is essentially a hardcore record injected with enflamed-stadium grandeur. Imagine F---ed Up without the pop bona fides or so many layers of pretension. The influence of producer J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) and cover artist Rick Froberg (Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, Obits) is tangible too — always a good thing on both counts.

Coliseum will slay Carabar this Sunday with Drug Money.
