The latest edition of KVLT - a more ominous, performance-oriented offshoot of Sweatin' - features Balam Acab, a.k.a. 20-year-old Pennsylvania producer Alec Koone. Koone's breakthrough material was filed away with the ultra-trendy witch house scene, but his work has evolved past spooky.

Debut album "Wander/Wonder" will appeal to those who love How To Dress Well's ghostly take on R&B, or those who wanted to love it but found it a bit too flimsy. There's a similar otherworldly bent to Balam Acab, but Koone's best tracks resemble Sigur Ros in the way they make desperately vulnerable sounds feel muscular.

Dirty Current opens Saturday's show.
