File under my favorite trends in local dining: beer dinners. I've started seeing some great multi-course meals with beer pairings pop up in local restaurants.

DeepWood recently staged a great meal around Goose Island beers. And now Downtown's Little Palace is doing the same with Bell's Brewery.

OK, so the casual Little Palace - known for addictively great bar-friendly grub - may not scream five-course meal, but Andrew Smith, executive chef of sister restaurant The Rossi, will be helming the kitchen for the evening.

Built around accompanying courses featuring quail and braised short rib, the beer list is a solid selection from a great brewery. Highlights include less-common varieties like double-IPA The Oracle and a dessert course Cherry Stout.

Diners should realize that the right beer can be just as complimentary as the right wine. And this is a good place to start. Tickets are $65, which includes all beers.
