One extra step — infusing whiskey with dried apples and cinnamon sticks — takes this drink from nice to perfectly seasonal. Rossi General Manager Karmen Dann points out that infused whiskey makes a great gift for that deserving special someone. You can use the same cinnamon sticks and apples in up to three infusions.
Rossi Toddy
1 1/2 ounces apple- and cinnamon-infused whiskey (recipe follows)
3 1/2 ounces hot water
Lemon rind and local honey stick for garnish
Place whiskey and hot water in a glass of your choice (a rocks glass or clear coffee mug work equally as well). Stir gently. Garnish with twist of lemon rind and honey stick.
Apple- and Cinnamon-Infused Whiskey
One bottle Oyo whiskey
6 ounces dried apples
5 cinnamon sticks (The Rossi finds ’em at North Market Spices Ltd.)
Pour all whiskey into a clean pitcher. Place cinnamon sticks and dried apples in the empty bottle, then pour whiskey back into bottle (All of it might not fit; consider it a treat for the cook.). Replace cap and let whiskey infuse for at least four days; it’s ready when it tastes right to you.
