I'd always wrangle my friends to go on these hikes or off-the-wall adventures. I love seeing what else there is out there. Really, it was just one of my friends who put the bug in my ear and said, "Hey, why don't you start a blog?" It was a way to inspire other people to get out there and stop just doing the typical bar, dinner, movie every weekend.

Ohio is a pretty awesome state. Coming to Ohio State, there were a lot of friends that I made who ended up leaving the state and a lot of people who wanted to leave the state. I always hated that attitude. If people have the attitude that Ohio is boring, I want to change that.

I've always had sort of a thirst for adventure. Time is precious. There's so much out there and so little time. I'm never bored, and that's why I say that no one ever should be.

The coolest thing I discovered in 2011 was winter hikes. I discovered the Columbus Metro Parks doing the organized winter hikes. I went on my own, too. It's something as simple as going outside and walking away from the city a little bit. There's something about it that puts you in this really awesome mood.

I'm not an expert in any of these things I do. And that's what I want to show people: They shouldn't be intimidated to try these things. You don't need to know everything or have been doing them your whole life.

You can learn a lot about your self by adventuring. You're going to find things that you love. You're going to have stories to tell. You're going to have memories with friends.

One goal I have for 2012 is running a half-marathon. Any time there's a running event that you want to work toward, you can train by going to different parks or different places to run. That in itself just opens the door for all sorts of fun adventures.

Three things I'd like to have on a desert island are the best North Face jacket ever, a journal and a camera.
