Last year was big for bass. Dubstep, a genre defined by thunderous wobbly womp, seeped into everything. The Black Keys, suddenly the most popular rock band in the world, added a bass player to their live show after years of guitar-and-drums swamp thump. ASAP Rocky endlessly, awesomely repeated the word “bass” over a Clams Casino beat.
To keep the low-end wave reverberating into 2012, My Best Friend’s Party is throwing a multi-genre bash called Bass Jam! Friday’s showcase spans from Columbus expat jam band Jahman Brahman (pictured) to DJ sets from the likes of Carma and Heady Ruxpin to headliner Freekbot, a virtuosic partnership between Freekbass and Tobotius.
