During Full Frontal Nudity’s “Date Night” show, the long-form improv troupe based at MadLab gathers information about a couple in the audience and uses it to tell a story that isn’t entirely accurate to real life.
The couple and the cast work together to build a narrative that involves, say, aliens. “They can craft their own fantasy relationship,” explained Andy Batt, director of the show and MadLab’s managing director.
Each Friday and Saturday evening the cast tries to build tales about three couples in the audience. One night early in the run, the first two stories went so well that they ran long, Batt said, but he didn’t want to leave out the third pair. “We did their whole lives in three minutes,” he said.
And what if there aren’t three couples eager to offer personal details? Batt’s solution: “We bribe them.”
