Staff Pick: Broken Hearts Masquerade Ball

By
From the February 9, 2012 edition

Love is beautiful and all that cheese, but realistically, until you finally meet the person you spend the rest of your life with (and sometimes even after you’ve found that person) “love” is a pretty annoying, discouraging and painful rite of passage.

Whether you’ve recently been burned by that little jerk Cupid or you’re knee-deep in lovey-dovey mush, this annual masquerade ball and dance party at Skully’s is pretty awesome for anyone who hates the hype of Hollywood rom-coms. It’s a Valentine’s Day alternative for bitter love realists.

Entry is $5 at the door for people 21 and older, and wearing masks is encouraged, although they’ll provide you with a simple black one if you forget. Spinning the hardened hearts tracks are deejays Broken Boy and Kevy Kev. Prepare to get real … and dance.
