Staff pick: Faces at Ohio Art League

By Columbus Alive
From the March 15, 2012 edition

Engaging artwork often tells a story or portrays a person’s essence. Paul Wilbur’s black and white photography, on display this month at the Ohio Art League’s South Campus gallery, captures people who are important to him — his granddaughter, his longtime friends, an intriguing character he met on the street. The bleak, dark images, revealing on their own, are accompanied by captions explaining what’s happening in them. As viewers, we can’t help but be affected by the emotions on the subjects’ faces and by the relationship that Wilbur has with each of the people on the other side of his camera.
