I saw these hardworking cowboys at the Newport last fall. Their Texan brand of country, punk, surf, swing and rockabilly was one of my favorite live performances of the year — at once a hoedown and mosh pit, a sock hop and a strip club.
The boys have been at this since the 1980s. Jim Heath (the Reverend) is a master of the Gretsch, and his sly bad-boy humor means the show isn’t just about the music.
I’m pumped they’re bringing it back our way again so soon. With openers The Goddamn Gallows and Larry and His Flask, a fast-paced party is sure to go down again. You’re invited; tickets are $15.
