Staff pick: Cooking class with Kent Rigsby at The Hills Market

Finding a chef outside the kitchen and in front of a rapt audience is an opportunity to be seized and peppered with questions. Bring your culinary curiosity to The Hills Market on Monday evening for a cooking class with Kent Rigsby, the patriarch of Rigsby’s Kitchen and one of Columbus’ best and most admired chefs.

Rigsby will perform a one-hour demonstration of three dishes — a salad, chicken entree and a torte for dessert. Pay close enough attention and you’ll be re-creating the dishes in your own kitchen. First, though, you’ll get to try them, with wine pairings, at a table charmingly set up in the store’s wine department.

The evening will set you back $40 — considerably less, we’ll note, than dinner and drinks at Rigsby’s Short North restaurant. Of course, that’s well worth a visit, too. Reservations are required. Call 614-846-3220.
