Its name notwithstanding, BalletMet is more than just a ballet company. The 25 dancers are as adept at Tharp or Kudelka as they are graceful with Petipa or Balanchine. Nor have they ever neglected such local choreographic luminaries as Susan Hadley or their own Jimmy Orrante. This year, the man in the red shoes, Gerard Charles, marks his 10th year as artistic director. Whether it’s last season’s pairing with Shadowbox Live in “Seven Deadly Sins,” the company’s continuing collaborations with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra or the annual “Nutcracker,” BalletMet always dances with heart.
