It should shock no one that Jeni’s once again garnered the most votes in this category, especially after the Columbus company was honored as one of the best ice cream makers in the country by Food and Wine magazine.
Using many local ingredients, the company founded by Jeni Britton Bauer has produced perennial handmade favorites such as Salty Caramel and Queen City Cayenne, but it also concocts inventive new flavors like Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows and Oakvale Young Gouda with Oyo Vodka-Plumped Cranberries every few months. It’s easy to find yourself wondering, “How does Jeni come up with these flavors?!” But when they taste as good as they do, who cares?
