Best Sandwiches: Katzinger’s Delicatessen

There’s something magical about the combination of tender corned beef with melted Swiss, tangy sauerkraut and zippy Russian dressing on toasted rye. The Reuben is America’s most beloved sandwich, and nobody in Columbus does it better than Katzinger’s. And that’s just the start of a masterful list of sandwiches, stacked with everything from Brooklyn-imported pastrami to real-deal smoked turkey breast and fantastic smoked salmon. The German Village deli cures its corned beef in house and bakes its own breads, too. These behemoths come in two sizes — a “Big” is about a quarter-pound of meaty goodness, while the “Huge” is nearly double that.
