Now that flavored vodkas have made creating drinks that taste like candy a snap, it’s nice to know there’s a place that makes drinks that still taste like drinks.
You’ll first think of Barrel 44 for its great whiskey list. Makes sense, as it’s a whiskey bar. But its bartenders also offer up some great cocktails, most made with — as Roger Sterling on “Mad Men” so aptly put it — “something brown.”
The tantalizing and tasty cocktails will turn on those who don’t think they like whiskey. And they may serve as a gateway drug to trying some of those great boozes on their own.
