Staff Pick: Cakes for a Cause

From the April 4, 2012 edition

Here’s how this is gonna work: You go to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank on Thursday night. You eat cake. As a result, hungry people in your community eat well.

Cakes for a Cause is the inspiring brain child of Emilie Duncan and Kasey Skobel-Conyers, who love cake and who want to help people in need. Three years into this fundraiser, they have found many partners in their quest.

Admission to the event ($31.50) includes plenty of food and access to a cash bar. Silent and live auctions afford cake devotees the opportunity to dig deeper — into pockets and with forks. And, because cake is sad all by its lonesome, Snowville Creamery will host a milk bar and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will dish cake’s ultimate mate. —Kristen Schmidt
