Staff pick: Lost in the Trees at the Wexner Center

I know what you’re thinking: Not another bunch of hipster folkies playing dress-up! And while the flowing white dresses and antique sewing machines of the “Red” video might seem trite, such trappings make a difference when there’s something substantial underneath. Only after The Decemberists became a cartoon did they cease to captivate, and Lost in the Trees is no cartoon. Ari Picker’s ensemble brings Southern gothic flair to orchestral folk-rock. There’s power in this music, and all the fancy window dressing plays a part in the same way the set design sweeps you into the universe of “Mad Men.”

Poor Moon, featuring Fleet Foxes members Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott, opens the show at 8 p.m. sharp.
