Though he has become an internet favorite for his production work with everybody from Busta Rhymes to Cam’ron to ASAP Rocky, araabMUZIK is first and foremost a performer. Known as “The MVP of the MPC,” the Dominican musician born Abraham Orellana wields his sampler with a finesse usually reserved for record-scratching, piano-plinking and wringing wondrous sounds from various stringed instruments.
What’s so stupendous about araabMUZIK’s skill set is that, unlike self-gratifying virtuosos whose skills merely cause audiences to gawk in disbelief, this guy’s feats add up to beats. There’s a party in those fingers, and it’s coming out Saturday at the latest installment of Le Boom.
