Musically, Girl Talk has evolved slightly since establishing his ultimate mega-mashup template on 2006’s “Night Ripper” — so slightly that you might not notice. Gregg Gillis talks in interviews about building songs out of samples rather than a ceaseless stream of rapid-fire “Eureka!” moments. But basically we know his tricks by now.
What’s a party-starter to do? For Gillis, the answer has been to bolster his live show, which once amounted to “crazy DJ dude removes clothing, parties hard, invites fans on stage,” with confetti and stage sets and LCD screens. And although Gillis hasn’t released new material since 2010’s “All Day,” he promises lots of new material at Friday’s LC stop with openers G-Side and Expensive S---.
