My freshman year at Westerville North, I discovered the music of erstwhile P-Funk bassist Bootsy Collins in the form “Funk Ain’t Broke,” his collaboration with West Coast rap pioneer/Ice Cube sound-alike Rodney O. The track made it onto my first mix CD, ensuring my homework sessions and AIM chats were extra funky.

Four years later, days into freshman year at OU, I met a DJ at the campus radio station who performed and produced under the name Ruckus Roboticus. His Dance or Die party became a fixture of my college experience; his new single “Take Me To a Disco” proves he is still having great ideas.

Now, Homage is bringing Bootsy and Ruckus together, a southwest Ohio match made in funk heaven.
