Staff pick: Models, Martinis and a Movie on the Mile

By Columbus Alive
From the June 14, 2012 edition

Fashion, alcohol and Woody Allen will collide Friday evening on the Scioto Mile, and the result promises to be beautiful, flavorful and expertly filmed.

Local clothing designers are putting their creations on 60 models and sending them down what claims to be Columbus’ first outdoor fashion runway. The fashion show, which starts at 7 p.m., follows two hours of cocktails, activities, networking and red-carpet arrivals. The event is free, but $40 gets you a limited-edition T-shirt and two VIP tickets. Proceeds benefit the Downtown Residents Association of Columbus and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

Visitors should definitely stick around ’til dusk, when “Midnight in Paris” flickers onto the Bicentennial Park outdoor movie screen. The movie skillfully blends romance, fantasy, history and Allen’s trademark wit.
