Preview: Modest Mouse at the LC

Not to be that guy, but watching Pitchfork’s documentary about Modest Mouse’s early years made me long for the raw, raging genius of that time period.

But enough about good old days that I didn’t even experience; the band that’s coming to LC Pavilion this Tuesday might be 15 years older, wiser and more comfortable, but they’re still Modest Mouse — Isaac Brock’s uncouth lisp and distinctive guitar rhythms, the tumbling interplay between Eric Judy and Jeremiah Green, the obsession with the open road.

OK, who are we kidding? We hope you play the old stuff, guys, unless you want to debut new material that reeks of blood on the teeth, or at least something as transcendently spacey as “3rd Planet.”
