Preview: Alberta Cross at The Basement

Alberta Cross makes humongous rock music. This is a band in the business of anthems, and they tap into all sorts of sounds to get there — Jane’s Addiction’s mountain-sized monolith rock, MGMT’s glow-stick psych, Ryan Adams’ metropolitan Americana, even a bit of Coldplay’s heartrending stadium bait.

On their upcoming album, “Songs of Patience,” this all melds quite nicely, with minimal frills and plenty of hooks. They’re not trailblazers, but they know who they are and they’re good at what they do.

Joining them Friday at The Basement will be Everest and local native-turned-New York scene staple Aaron Lee Tasjan.
