The crown jewel of the ’90s nostalgia movement sweeping across America is the Summerland tour, which plucks five bands of varied repute straight from the alt-radio dial circa 1998 and delivers them to LC Pavilion-sized venues for your youth-prolonging enjoyment — Mark McGrath as Ponce de Leon.
The participants: Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground, all of whom have at least one late-period alt classic to their name. Some of them have new songs too, but come on.
The chances of this being life-changing, life-extending or even life-affirming are minimal. But it certainly sounds like more fun than a 10-year high school reunion.
