Staff Pick: Milk Music

On the far left side of the map exists a far left kind of town called Olympia, Washington, where the music is known for being cute and quirky. Party rockers Milk Music trade in primitive sounds too, but it bears little resemblance to the twee their town made its name on. Instead, at Pitchfork Music Festival last weekend the band approximated a Dinosaur Jr. sludgefeast at a frat-house kegger, brawny power chords matched with meathead grins. Secret Police, Shaver and Life Mess round out a killer night of punk rock.
