Things We Love: Cheater Slicks

By Columbus Alive
From the July 26, 2012 edition

Any band that lasts 25 years deserves a pat on the back, but Cheater Slicks merit a hearty slap, one that matches the violence in their music. The gnarled, noise-mongering garage greats, who began in Boston circa 1987 before relocating to Columbus in the ’90s, are world-famous for their stellar string of albums and their notoriously confrontational feedback feast of a live show. The next one is Friday at Ace of Cups, when they’ll celebrate their silver anniversary with good buddies Bassholes and Obnox. Meanwhile, CDR just released the second installment in a three-volume set of live albums, and a new studio record, “Reality Is a Grape,” is coming this fall.
