Two rising Ohio bands converge on Rumba this Friday, one from the North, one from the South.
Surging up from Cincinnati come The Sundresses, one of those rollicking garage bands distilled straight from the dust sap collecting on old 45s. Consider them less pretentious descendants of The White Stripes — all party, no gimmicks.
Swinging down from Akron will be Shivering Timbers, proteges of Dan Auerbach whose brand of art-school folk eschews the usual guitar-heavy strummage in favor of flavors like jazz, indie-pop and eerie soundtrack music.
They make for fine complementary sounds.
