Most TV viewers probably know The Heavy whether they realize it or not. The British soul men are responsible for one of the more widely licensed advertising jams of this young decade, “How You Like Me Now?”
On their recent LP, “The Glorious Dead,” they’ve cut 10 more tracks from the same cloth — funky party tracks with humongous, shout-through-the-roof choruses updated for 2012 with digital rhythms and spy-movie strings. Call it the Danger Mouse filter, especially since The Heavy sounds like Gnarls Barkley on steroids.
They’ll play The Bluestone this Friday for the second leg of a three-night stand with Lucero; tickets are available exclusively through Miller Lite and CD102.5.
